Exciting developments are underway that are sure to make life even more convenient for residents and visitors in the Calabash, Carolina Shores, and surrounding Brunswick County communities! Construction is well in progress on two major new retail anchors — Publix and Walmart — that are expected to open in 2026.
A new Publix grocery store is currently being built at the corner of U.S. Highway 17 and Calabash Road in the Carolina Shores/Calabash area. This new location will join other regional supermarkets and bring an updated shopping destination closer to home for families, seniors, and weekend visitors alike.
Just up the road, plans are underway for a Walmart Supercenter that will provide everything from groceries and household essentials to electronics, apparel, and more — all without having to travel far from home. Site preparation and construction activities are already in motion, and the new store is expected to serve the southern Brunswick County area once it opens its doors in 2026.
